On Dreaming and Planning

There’s a distinct difference between a dream and a plan, isn’t there?

Plans happen.

Dreams occupy the atmosphere.

What plans have you seen realized? What dreams are you still clutching?

Recently I’ve been thinking about which of my life long dreams have actually become plans, and which ones have yet to materialize.

A few of my dreams still swirling around:

  • Run a bookstore.
  • Run a coffeeshop. (Possibly in the same space as previous bookstore.)
  • Become a published author.
  • Live abroad.
  • Live in New England.
  • Teach, something.

And, much to my surprise, one dream has lately become a plan:

  • Be a mom.

I think the real difference between a dream and a plan is, simply, timing.

“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act.”

Psalm 37:5

Love your dreams! I want to come to your bookstore and coffee shop and read your book while there. 🙂 Living abroad for a few years is on my list too – don’t know if it will ever happen but it’s a fun thought.
