By night I am a budding blogger, feverishly cranking out posts and networking with other feverishly posting bloggers. By day, I pay the bills working for a really unique Internet marketing company. There, I’ve learned tons about web marketing, from SEO to social media and everything in between. (If you ever have any questions about the technical side of internet marketing, feel free to shoot me a comment! I’ll do my best to answer, or point you to resources that may be helpful.)
Recently a coworker of mine introduced me to Klout, a service that determines how influential you are on the web. And, yes, I’m still wrapping my head around that concept! (As I now regret it, I told Ben about Klout and turns out he is more influential than me. Backfire. Just kidding!)
Even if you haven’t registered your profile with Klout, they still are tracking your online influence. While I think of myself as a pretty tech savvy person, I had no idea Klout was keeping an eye on me!
Which lead me to wonder, how much influence might we have without realizing it?How many people are watching your moves?
Whose moves are you watching?
I recalled that old Sunday School tune, Be Careful Little Little Eyes What You See. Be cautious of who your real world influencers are, and be mindful of those you could be influencing.
If you’re a mom, for example, you might be leaving an impression on your child as well as his playmates.
If you’re the manager of a retail store, your customers could be just as impacted by your behavior as your employees.
This post isn’t meant to be a “watch your back!” scare tactic but, rather, an encouragement to keep in mind the many ways we could be leaving an impression on others throughout our day. Are your words seasoned with grace or bitterness? Do your actions scream of your humility or pride? Do you treat others with dignity or disrespect?
Who are you influencing?
