If I had to pick a word to describe the Summer of 2015, it would be hustle. With Baby No. 2 on the way, it feels that Ben and I have been rearranging life, figuring out what works, and making space for our newest addition.
Answering the question, “What do you do?” has become more wide sweeping than I would have ever thought – SAHM, virtual assistant, and birth doula – but it works. Each of my pursuits, though varied, are tied together by a common core of encouraging and nurturing others.
How have I stayed organized during a season of hustle?
With the Brilliant Business Planner* from the savvy ladies of Brilliant Business Moms. This tool has been tremendously helpful to me both personally and professionally.
If you follow me on social media, you’ll notice I mention @BrillantBizMom a lot. That’s because I truly feel like Sarah & Beth Anne are my friends. My mommy friends who run a small business and a podcast and are chock-full of wisdom and encouragement. Each week, their podcast features an interview with a mompreneur who is chasing her dreams, all the while providing for her family. (My personal favorite times to listen are while I’m doing my virtual assistant work or household chores.)
But back to the planner.
This little guy (or should I say ‘gal’?) is handy because it includes a ‘Business’ and ‘Personal’ to-do list. Especially as a mom working from home, my work life can’t be separated from my home life; meetings have to be planned around naptime and I still have to get dinner on the table.
By nature, I’m not a creature of habit. I prefer spontaneity and fly-by-the-seat-of-my-yoga-pants. But toddlers demand some sort of routine. (At least my toddler todes.) The planner is prepped for time-block scheduling and I have found it refreshing to block out my days, not wondering when I’ll get what done.
Cards on the table, I haven’t used many of the pages which are intended for makers, like their inventory planning tools, but I hear that moms with product-based businesses find them useful.
I want to dig more into the planner’s longer-term tools, like their advertising matrixes, in the near future. (Currently my endeavors are in a holding pattern until after the baby comes, so I haven’t been thinking too far in advance!)
What works about the Brilliant Business Planner is it was made for mompreneurs by mompreneurs. Sarah & Beth Anne are the real deal. They have kids, just like me, and are managing to make it happen. I love that they’ve distilled much of the business-running wisdom they’ve gleaned over the years into a format I benefit from.
If you give the Brilliant Business Planner a try, I’d love to know how it works for you.
This planner has gone through a TON of updates, and they’re FABULOUS!!! I’m loving the Brilliant Business Planner even more now, if that’s possible. Click below to see for yourself:
